Established in 2003 to formally recognize and reward the efforts of members, the Trail Boss and The Tail Gunner awards will be awarded to the person who organizes the most trail runs during the year. For the purpose of this contest, the year begins on the Sunday following the 2004 Holiday Party and will end on the Friday before the 2005 Holiday Party. The Co-Pilot award will be selected via a lottery from the remaining trail runs. Each run gets one chance in the lottery. If you have 5 runs, you have five chances. The Trail Boss and The Tail Gunner will not be eligible for the lottery. Here are the rules:
The winners must be members at the time of the awards ceremony at the 2004 Holiday Party. You do not have to be a member to have a run eligible, but you must become a member before your runs can be added to the pool. You do not have to be present to win the Trail Boss or Tail Gunner award. You do have to be present at the Holiday Party to be entered into the Lottery for the Co-Pilot award.
The run must be announced on either the OCC list or MOCC list at least 24 hours prior to the run and a sign-up database must be used.
There must be a minimum of 5 vehicles on the run and the vehicles that count must be signed up on the database. This means no recruiting on the way to the trail in order to meet the contest requirements.
The run must be an official run; meaning, at least two participants must be members and you must adhere to the club policy of Tread Lightly!
Trips that are planned in advance to last two days will count as two runs as long as all trail boss award requirements are met each day. Trips that last more than two days will only count for two runs.
Waivers for non-members must be collected and submitted to the board. Medical forms must be distributed to all who don't have one. They can both be found here. To assist in the set up of a trail, here is a checklist.
You must follow-up the run with a trail report posted on the list the run was advertised on. The report must contain a list of who participated in the run (not just "2 TJs, 2 CJ-7s and a Suburban" but the names of the people).
If at the end of the year two or more people have the same number of trail rides, the trail leader with the highest vehicle count will be declared the winner.
Board members are not eligible.
Planned events like Big Dogs and Jeep Jamboree are not eligible.
Have fun and get out there and wheel!
