Drivers, passengers, rigs:

1 Myself, Bryan Folts, my navigator, Kevin McHale, and my two Sons, Matthew
and Adam in my '99 XJ
2 Jason Blackwell and his Daughter Katie in his '99 TJ
3 Doug Masnick and his Stepson Andrew in his 93 4Runner
4 Erik Sosa in his 06 Rubicon

We started at 10AM after a drivers meeting and check-in.

We went to the North-East section and ran the Green N and X trails over to trail 36(blue). I climbed the first hill and it was Jason's turn next. Luckily, before Jason started, Doug noticed Jason's front end was moving too much.
The right lower control arm was snapped in half. I used a ratchet strap, ratchet and half a roll of duct tape to hold it together. Since Jason couldn't do the climb, Doug decided to stay with him as Erik Sosa did the climb. Eric and I looped around Trail 36(blue) to Trail 34(blue) and ended up back where Jason and Doug were waiting. From there we cut down Green X1 to get back to camp. On the way Doug's 4Runner started smoking and had a burnt smell to it. We couldn't pinpoint the cause and the smoke had stopped so we continued to camp. At Noon we got back to camp and found that two coolant lines going towards Doug's trans were rusted and spraying a little coolant on the exhaust. It smelled like a smoke machine! I had a set of control arms I had acquired for Jason last week, so we replaced the broken arm. Scott and Pete had not left camp yet and helped Jason and I with the repair. After eating lunch Jason and I decided to run the Comp Course area. Eric had seen too many roll their rigs there and decided to pack up for the day. Doug also decided to pack up for the day. After playing in the rocks and concrete for a couple hours Jason and I also packed up to leave.

We all had a great time the whole weekend! Thanks to Scott and Suzzy for leading Saturday AM, and to Rich for leading Saturday afternoon. And thanks to Eric for Tail Gunning Saturday and Sunday. The Broasted Chicken was Great!!

Happy Motoring,
Bryan Folts
